Angelus was founded in Le Locle by two brothers named Stolz in 1891. They started producing wristwatches at the beginning of the 20th Century and rapidly concentrated their effort on watches with ingenious movements. The company rapidly found success and grew a reputation as demand for their complicated wristwatches expanded. The company had an illustrious run until like many others,  it folded during the Quartz crisis. It has now been resurrected producing high end tourbillons.

The Chronodato was introduced in the middle of World War 2 and was certainly the first production chronograph fitted with a triple date calendar with a large aperture for the month and day of the week. The model was very successful and was later replaced in the mid 1950's with a model which incorporated a moon phase and a big date called the Chronodato deluxe.

At 38mm, the Chronodato is the ideal chronograph day-date, with its large apertures it offers great legibility. A vintage watch with much modern appeal  at still an affordable price. this example is in great condition and should appeal to all.
