Founded in 1881, Movado became known for manufacturing fine movements from start to finish. This was unusual, as most brands sourced movements and then made modifications to fit their models and designs. From the 1930’s through the 1960’s, Movado chronographs used the legendary manual calibers 90M and 95M. The present watch features the 95M caliber, which is unusual because it starts and stops the chronograph function with the bottom pusher and resets with the top pusher.
Preserved in remarkable condition, the present example is perfect for the vintage chronograph collector. Such speciments - with a highly sought-after tropical dial that highlights the matching luminous numerals and hands, and crisp case with sharp lug facets - do not surface often.
