These automatic Rolex fitted with a calibre 1520 and cased in gold filled 14kt were made exclusively as recognition watches, mostly for the St Regis paper company. A large manufacture of paper which was based in Virginia and was absorbed by Champion paper in the early 1980's.
These Rolex were given to employee as recognition for 25 years of Service. Rolex has a long history of providing such "recognition watches" to companies. In the early days of Rolex they famously supplied Eaton in Canada for quarter century recognition with Princes and latter bubble backs, later in the 1960's it was St Regis as the above watch but also Hallmark Cards. Most people are familiar with the Domino Pizza Air king which is also thought by collector. This particular watch has no engraving.
The above watch has no back engraving and it is in good condition. technically the movement is worth more than the watch, however we believe that it is the perfect Rolex for a beginner collector. You get the legendary 1520, a movement which powers the 5513, 5512, 1016, 5500 in a classic case for very little investment.
